Why In-Person Coaching Matters

Reflecting on my coaching journey, I’ve noticed a consistent preference among clients for in-person sessions. Interestingly, none have opted for online meetings.

This wasn’t intentional when I established ADHDaptive. I envisioned primarily online coaching across the UK, valuing its cost-effectiveness and convenience. However, I’ve naturally developed a niche in local, in-person, authentic coaching.

Enhancing Interactive Dynamics

In-person coaching facilitates a dynamic exchange that’s challenging to replicate online. Whether brainstorming, engaging in verbal reasoning, or addressing challenges, being present together introduces a layer of interaction I deeply value.

Face-to-face meetings allow me to tailor sessions in real-time. My natural empathy enables me to discern clients’ deeper needs—be it a structured approach or a relaxed conversation,
emotions like distress or pride. This immediate feedback is something screens can’t convey.
This dynamic experience is fluid and responsive, which is vital, especially for neurodivergent individuals who may have unique communication styles.

Creating a Conducive Environment

Meeting away from daily distractions, such as the workplace, dedicating time specifically for our sessions helps clients engage more deeply.

Many prefer public spaces like coffee shops, though workplace areas or bookable meeting rooms are also options.

The Significance of Local Connections

Connecting with someone from the same community enhances the sense of support. It’s comforting to know that I’m not just a coach but also part of the local landscape.

We can discuss shared experiences and challenges of living in the same area, and clients often appreciate accessing resources and connections nearby.

Celebrating Genuine Human Interaction

Ultimately, coaching is about fostering authenticity and connection. While online coaching has its place, especially when geography poses a challenge, and many may prefer it, I’m grateful for the moments shared with clients – celebrating successes and exploring challenges together in a real and supportive manner, regardless of the medium.

Here’s to the power of genuine human connection on our journeys!
