Why I’ve Embraced the Keto Life as an ADHDer

So, what about ADHD and Keto? The thing about ADHD is it’s all or nothing. Regular diets? Nah, they’re just not stimulating enough. The keto diet though? That’s something I can get obsessed with! I’ve tried keto before, and it just clicks with me. I mean, who doesn’t love a diet that says, “Yes, you can have all the meat!”? Since hopping back on the keto train just over a week ago, I’ve felt like a whole new person.

🧠 No More Hunger Games!

One of the best things about keto as an ADHDer? No gnawing hunger that distracts me from everything else. The energy is off the charts — it’s like someone turned on a limitless power switch. And honestly, who doesn’t want that?

🚫 ADHD and Keto? Challenges? What Challenges?

This time around, it’s been smooth sailing. No challenges here, just me, my steak, and checking the nutritional info on everything I buy (because carbs are the enemy!). I did have a short-lived keto headache for the first few days, but that’s a small price to pay for the benefits. Once you stop eating sugary foods, you lose the craving — it’s like alcohol. Once it’s gone, you don’t miss it.

One thing that’s made keto easier for me is having already given up alcohol, which used to be a major source of carbs. No pints or cocktails to derail my progress!

💡 My Advice

If you’re an ADHDer who loves meat and low-carb veggies, give keto a try — but it’s not for everyone. ⚠ Always do your research first. If you have diabetes, kidney disease, heart conditions, thyroid issues, or a history of eating disorders, speak with a healthcare professional or dietitian before starting. Your health comes first.
